Preschool Seasons & Weather Activities
Seasonal cycles and changing weather patterns form a central part of a young child’s daily observations. Exploring temperature changes, seasonal clothing, and agricultural cycles offers a wonderful, sensory entry point into early meteorology, biology, and solar science. Seasons-themed activities and lesson plans for Ages 3–5 and Ages 4–6 encourage children to observe nature’s transitions, track local temperatures, and discover how plants and animals adapt to change.
At Superbuddy, we look at the changing seasons as a dynamic calendar for inquiry. Rather than simply memorizing the names of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, children engage with the elements. They trace shadow differences over seasons, sort objects by hot and cold thermal properties, collect seasonal natural items, and keep simple visual weather logs. This active approach builds foundational physical science concepts while enhancing observational skills.
What’s Inside
Our seasons and weather learning hub features a curated selection of low-prep, interactive projects designed for classrooms and homes:
- Four-Season Nature Trays: Sorting leaves, flowers, seeds, and twigs into separate compartments to examine seasonal plant transformations.
- Daily Weather Tracking Charts: Drawing sky conditions (sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy) on a shared calendar to spot weekly meteorology patterns.
- Hot & Cold Temperature Sorters: Classifying items like ice packs, warm tea mugs, sweaters, and sunglasses by thermal comfort levels and seasonal use.
- Shadow Extension Maps: Marking the length of outdoor tree or stick shadows at the same hour across weeks to track seasonal sun movements.
How Teachers & Parents Use This Hub
This hub makes meteorological inquiry active and fun, linking sensory play with seasonal storybooks:
- Introduce with Literature: Read our companion book Hot & Cold to join Superbuddy on a sensory science adventure, exploring temperature differences and seasonal safety rules.
- Look to the Skies: Run our weather-tracking Colors of the Sky Quest. Children look upwards to identify cloud formations and weather-related air changes.
- Explore Solar Movement: Set up our Sundial Quest. Track how shadow lengths change with the sun’s angle, demonstrating rotation and seasonal light shifts.
- Reflect with Nature Collages: Collect fallen garden leaves or seasonal petals. Have children paste them into circular charts representing the seasonal lifecycle of trees.

Interactive Literature
- Hot & Cold (Book 20) Storybook Guide: Investigate thermal expansion, temperature variations, and seasonal safety guidelines with Ms Emm (Ages 3–5 / 4–6).
- Flowers (Book 16) Storybook Guide: Discover how seasonal warmth and spring light prompt seeds to sprout, grow leaves, and bloom (Ages 3–5 / 4–6).
Playful Movement Quests
- Superbuddy Colors of the Sky Quest: An active meteorological quest to track clouds, wind signs, and changing sky colors (Ages 3–5 / 4–6).
- Superbuddy Sundial Quest: A hands-on solar science quest exploring light direction, seasonal shadows, and daily timekeeping (Ages 3–5 / 4–6).
Collaboration & Custom Units
All our weather trackers, temperature templates, and seasonal worksheets are free to download. We collaborate with weather centers, green schools, and early childhood associations to co-design localized climate studies, outdoor sensory weather stations, and play-based sustainability modules.
- Partnership Inquiries: Email team@superbuddy.in to discuss co-designing localized seasonal curricula or cooperative climate units.
- Guides Directory: Check our main Guides Library to learn more about play-based pedagogy and nature inquiry.
